In the Bible, James 1:27 states, "Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world."Thank you for your interest in the covenant children of Uganda. Vast numbers are ophaned or affected due to the devastating effects of AIDS and other challenges facing this nation.
Often called "slims," because the victims literally waste away to nothing, AIDS has shattered many homes and left countless children hopeless and lost. After a parent dies, the children are often separated from brothers and sisters, and must live with relatives or other guardians. Poverty and hardship can lead to abuse in the homes causing some children to seek refuge on the city streets.
